Frequently Asked Questions
♡What is Home Care?
Home Care is Hourly or Live-In Care in the home to provide for Personal Safety and Assistance, Companionship or Respite Care.
♡Why should I choose Home Care?
Home is where we are most secure, where we enjoy our privacy and the comfort of familiar surroundings, as well as the joy of being able to spend time with friends and loved ones in our own home.
♡May I choose who comes to my home?
Absolutely! We make it our job to match the right caregiver(s) with each client. You will be able to choose or change your caregiver to ensure your satisfaction.
♡How can I verify a shift was completed for a family member?
Assisting Seniors’ Caregivers are required to call in from the client’s home when they arrive, and call in when they are leaving. These calls are logged with the client’s number to ensure accurate billing. Verification can be provided any time it is requested. Invoices are always sent after the completion of services, so any requested adjustments to schedules are taken care of before the invoice is sent.
♡Who pays the Personal Caregiver?
Assisting Seniors is responsible for all the administrative, billing, payroll, and tax concerns involved in the employee process.
♡Is Home Care only for those with physical needs?
Mental and emotional well-being are essential for a healthy life. Seniors who are still relatively independent but spend much of the day alone can greatly benefit from a caregiver who offers daily companionship and emotional support.
♡Are home care services covered by insurance or Medicare?
Long-term care insurance, Veterans Benefits, funds from Reverse Mortgages, Health Savings Accounts and Flexible Spending Accounts are often used to pay for Home Care. Assisting Seniors has preferred relationships with most long term care insurance companies. We will help you and your family through every step of the process involved with determining what a policy will actually cover and we will provide any documentation your insurance company requests.
♡Will the same caregiver come each time?
We strive to avoid the “revolving door” of caregivers. Our experience is that developing a strong rapport and trust with your caregiver is a vital component to a successful home care experience. As such we work with you to develop and maintain the ideal team.
♡How is the privacy of my personal information maintained?
Your information will never be sold to any third party or affiliate under any circumstances. Only office personnel and caregivers directly involved in your services will have access to your care-related information. ASAH strictly adheres to all applicable federal and state privacy guidelines regarding personal and healthcare information of clients.
♡Are there minimum care requirements?
No. Assisting Seniors is on call for you whenever you need us. Whether it simply be for an emergency service, a few hours a week, or every day. Contact your local Assisting Seniors office to learn more about a personalized in-home care plan for you.
♡How is a Personal Caregiver chosen?
Assisting Seniors’ priority is that our caregivers are HHA licensed and certified. Caregivers are subject to a criminal background check, a thorough interview, a competency test and personal and employment reference checks.
♡Are the caregivers bonded and insured?
Yes. Every Assisting Seniors caregiver is an employee of our agency. We perform a criminal history background clearance on each caregiver, and cover each of them with general liability insurance and worker’s compensation insurance.
♡If I change my mind, do I have to keep the service?
No. You will never be locked into a long-term contract, and Assisting Seniors will never require you to continue with services if you choose not to.
